Posting Summary
Perform advanced technical and data management functions and coordinate specialized laboratory activities in a research laboratory dedicated to the areas of cancer cell biology, therapeutic development, and molecular and cellular functions. Execute mammalian cell culture, molecular and cellular assays, mouse breeding, colony management and interventional experiments. Perform experiments using cultured cells and laboratory animals involving drug dosage, analysis of tissues and cells using immunohistochemistry, western blotting, transfection of DNA , and other cell and molecular techniques. Isolation and analysis of DNA , RNA , and protein samples. Preparation of support materials. Oversee laboratory management and provide functional supervision of 2-4 students/staff. Conduct on-boarding trainings for new lab personnel. Manage laboratory research and safety protocols. Work independently with oversight received from the Principal Investigator.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry or related science and five years’ experience in molecular and cellular biological techniques required. Proficient with data management and reporting. Requires proficient and independent ability to perform laboratory techniques. Demonstrated ability to multitask, delegate and work autonomously in a high paced and deadline driven environment.
Desirable Qualifications
Anticipated Pay Range $25 to $32/hour
Other Information
Special Conditions Bargaining unit position, External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, Contingent on continued funding, A probationary period may be required for current UVM employees, Background Check required for this position

Union Position Yes, UVMSU ($20 minimum hourly rate)
