Position Summary

This is a seasonal position.

Position is responsible for every day operational tasks of the Summer Adventure Day Camp Program under the supervision of the Head Day Camp Counselor and the direction of the Park Manager/Sr. Coordinator.

Position Responsibilities

Follows all Indy Parks and Recreation Seasonal Policies and Procedures.

Monitors and supervises of campers and volunteers.

Assists with the medical needs and camper safety while in the program,

Coordinates daily camp and parent communication.

Implements daily activities and schedules.

Supports campers in the camp or activities setting.

Supports and assists campers while in activities such as swimming, games and crafts.

Qualifications

Must be enrolled in school or have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Should be at least 16 years of age and have at least 1year experience working with youth in a supportive environment. Must have current certification in CPR and First Aid prior to summer employment. Must have good communication and organizational skills. Must attend Summer Day Camp Training and be able to start to work by June 1st. Must be able to work daytime hours ranging from 7:00am to 6:00pm. Prefer any bilingual skills particularly in speaking Spanish.

Independent Judgment

Follows the established policies and procedures of the department. Adheres to all rules and regulations. Independent judgement may occur in decisions regarding day camp programs, activities, handling discipline problems, emergency situations and dealing with the public.
